The Post Office has raised rates fairly dramatically...

In the couple of years that I've been producing my decals and parts, I've absorbed one postal rate increase without raising my shipping costs, but this latest increase is really a kicker-- not only did the rate go up, but the way I mail decal-only orders (in an envelope with a cardboard backer to reduce the chances of you receiving a bent-up decal sheet) is now classified by the post office as a PACKAGE and this makes the new cost DOUBLE the old rate.  It really peeves me when I see the US Postal Service sponsoring a NASCAR team and plastering Star Wars all over everything (Uncle George doesn't give that stuff away for free, you know) and then they raise their rates because they "can't cover their costs."  I groan and moan about shipping costs whenever I purchase my supplies  (ask my wife-- she has to listen to me) and I've always tried to keep that cost as low as possible for my beloved Fireball Modelworks customers.  Unfortunately, I've had to make the difficult decision to change my shipping policy.

The new policy is as follows:

Domestic US & APO/FPO shipments:
    - Decal-only orders are now subject to a $1 postage & handling charge for any quantity. 
    - Resin sets will now be shipped by First Class Mail.  The postage & handling charge will remain $5 for any quantity.
    - Combination orders of resin and decal items will be $5 for any quantity by First Class Mail.
                Priority Mail can be specified for any order.  The charge for Priority Mail will be $6 for any order.

International shipments (amended 05/16/07):
    - Decal-only orders will be charged the First Class Mail International rate plus US$1.
    - Resin sets and combination orders will be charged the First Class Mail International rate plus US$1, with a minimum of US$5.

                all items. 

Standard shipping method for 1-3 decal sets is a kraft envelope with a cardboard backer; this adds 2 ounces to the weight of the item(s). 
Most resin items are shipped in a corrugated box (4 oz), and larger decal-only orders may ship in a large padded mailer or a box,
whichever is appropriate to ensure safe delivery.

This policy is effective immediately

Update 5/21/08: The Postal Service has raised rates again, but for now I will keep both Domestic and International shipping policies the same.
